The minibus to take us to Whitehaven is booked through http://www.nationalminibushire.co.uk/ so all I need to do once my Uni exams are over is to get some practice in.

I am part of a group doing the C2C in late June, I have recounted an earlier training ride in a previous article, the justgiving page is now up, so hopefully the money will roll in...

I am hoping to do the C2C this summer, and now I have finished my Uni Assignments before Easter, hopefully I will have a little more time for training rides.  We still haven't decided how we are getting there, but with 10 of us cycling, we should be able to have a few  differently paced groups and all go at a pace we find comfy, being the only recumbent in the group I'm expecting not to be as quick as some of the others up hill, hopefully I'll catch up on the way down. Smile

Ramblings - My Rides

Last Saturday, most of the HEP C2C Group embarked on a ride from Chorlton Green out to Ashley were we did an anti-clockwise circuit out to Peover Heath where we stopped for lunch at the Dog Inn and I have to say that it was very nice and would make a great stop for lunch if you are out that way.  The rout out to Peover Heath was via Tatton Park and Over Peover, then back via the Cheshire Cycle way through Knolls Green and New Mills (Near Mobberley Station) back to Ashley.

The final leg home from there, with a stop of at Jackson's Boat for a Well deserved drink, a little busy for my taste, but nice for an outside drink near the water park.

Kirsty, Kathy and Will were the route planners and did a fine job, the pace was good but I suspect I would struggle to maintain anywhere close to that pace if there had been any hills.

The Trice Sprint is great, just have to fit the mudguards now, but the daily commute is so much easier than it was on the Fiero, the easy low speed manoeuvring of the trike is wonderful!

I will probably do a couple of ad-hoc rides this weekend, weather and revision permitting!

I will also post some pictures of my trike once I have the mudguards fitted,  I have to say that my customised rack is great, it means that I don't have to fold the trike to get it in my bike locker, just remove the seat!

Here is a picture of the guys on the ride, if you are in the picture and wnat me to remove it, just email ...

Ramblings - My Rides

Having ridden in on the Cycle to work day, got my free breakfast at the University and went to work...

In the afternoon the snow fell, which as always caused chaos, I though I would leave it a little later to let the rush die down a little, so I set off around ten to six.  All was fine with the ride if a little slippery until a car still covered in snow pulled out from the right hand side of the road, straight across in front of me, I managed to swerve (which is a feat in itslef on a recumbent) but still nudged the car with my shoulder.

The driver was completely oblivious to the fact they had nearly killed me, they could not possibly have seen me since every window, with the presumed exception of the windscreen, was covered in snow, they had made no attempt to clear them at all.

I find it saddening that they have so little regard for others that they wouldn't even bother to clear the side windows or the rear window, I presume they expected the snow to fall off after a while, of maybe they were hoping to use passing cyclists to brush it off for them!!!
